I have just come across this website and hoping it will provide insights in to family research on the Gillbanks who lived in the area

I am a descendent of William Barrow who lived at Kirkby Hall from around 1765 (source parish records). Prior to that his abode was recorded as "Chappels". His son Thomas, who was a spademaker at a forge at Rosside, near Ulverston was my GGGGF. I assume the Barrows were tenants of Kirkby Hall - if anybody has any information on the Barrows please email me.

Before the "Back Lane" from Soutergate to 4 Lane Ends was widened there used to be a "hoghouse" where Bob Hockaday a teacher at Burlington School, used to practice trumpet playing at night. Can anyone confirm this ???
